Haku wouldn't die right away from such a blow and would have enough strength to tell the truth about their birth. They were taught that Incest was considered the most horrible thing

"That bastard, he was telling the truth. If he willingly committed incest though, why would he teach us that it's wrong? Was he planning on us killing him and taking the throne together or something?"
